<p>And a glass of wine to top it all of at 8:30PM.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I know its only the 24th, and that I good week until its really the end of the year, but since I&#8217;m thinking about it now, I might as well write. Right? <img src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>This year has been a year of not following through.  In most areas of my life.  I&#8217;ve pseudo-set many goals and made really good starts, but haven&#8217;t had the follow through I needed.  Next year I will work on that.  Lets just go ahead and say that my new years resolution for 2010 is to follow through.  Pretty catch-all, huh?  Now the real clincher here is what exactly will that entail?</p>
<p><strong>1. Healthy eating/fitness:</strong> The biggest thing I have going is wanting to achieve a higher level of fitness.  I have some fat I need to lose to become more comfortable with who I am.  In order to do that, I really need to concentrate on what I put in my body and what I do to burn it off.  I need to better track what I eat, and try and deviate less from my set plans.  Or rather, I need to remember to make plans and stick with them to avoid temptations.  I will try and plan my meals for the week on Sundays, and follow through with those plans during the week.  Taking pictures of my meals will help (sorry for the low quality though, you can only do so much with an iPhone).  Exercise will also be a HUGE part of my 2010 plan.  I was absolutely lackadaisical in prepping for my January 17th half marathon, and I dont want that to happen again.  I have found the right combination of footwear/running style to help me minimize injuries and expedite recovery, I just need to jump back on the horse and build up/maintain a set running schedule so that I can finish at least 2 half marathons in 2010.  And maybe a long distance bike ride or two.</p>
<p><strong>2. Time Management:</strong> Also something I need to improve upon.  Im really good at getting distracted from what I set out to do (which could be why follow through is less than desirable).  I want to make myself stay better focused on the task at hand.  Not much more to really elaborate here.</p>
<p><strong>3. Other stuff: </strong>Yeah, heres where the follow through issue is coming up.  I&#8217;ve got other things in mind to try and improve upon, but they are floating around in my head and cant be pinned down at the moment.  SO, expect some follow up posts about those.  Yay!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>With all the extra time I have from NOT working this week, maybe I will have enough time to keep this up.</p>
<p>Breakfast today was awesome! I picked up some <a href="http://www.stonyfield.com/oikos/index.jsp?utm_source=google&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_term=oikos&amp;utm_campaign=" target="_blank">Oikos</a> vanilla yogurt from the grocery store yesterday and tried it this morning with some <a href="http://thekitchensinkrecipes.com/2008/01/04/homemade-granola-im-warning-you/">homemade granola</a> from a recipe that a friend sent me, and I added frozen blueberries, about a half of a sliced banana, and an extra tablespoon or so of ground flax seed, and some <a href="http://www.wholesomesweeteners.com/brands/Wholesome_Sweeteners/Organic_Blue_Agave.html">organic blue agave nectar</a>. It turned out pretty good.  Add to that a leftover banana bread muffin (cant remember where I got the recipe at the moment.  Ill find it somewhere) with some margarine, and it ended up being a pretty yummy breakfast. Not too pretty, but definitely yummy:</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So today Im starting over fresh (how many times have I said this the past few months, huh?)</p>
<p>Todays food has been pretty good.  I had some <a href="http://www.kashi.com/products/golean_hot_cereal_hearty_honey_cinnamon">Kashi GoLean Honey Cinnamon</a> oatmeal to which I added half a scoop of <a href="http://www.optimumnutrition.com/products/100-whey-gold-standard-p-201.html">Gold Standard Double Chocolate Whey Protein</a>, a tablespoon of peanut butter, and about a teaspoon of ground flax seed. I followed that up with a 4.68 mile walk/run (more walk than run, unfortunately).  After that, I came home and did yard work with the hubby (I mow while he weedeats).  Sometimes Im glad we don&#8217;t have a self propelled lawn mower.  The workout it gives me is amazing. I had a protein shake snack after the yardwork, because I was starving! I threw half a frozen banana into 8 ounces of skim milk and a scoop of the Gold Standard protein, and added a little bit of water and 2 ice cubes.  Pretty good. Next time I might try adding peanut butter.</p>
<p>Tonight we are having <a href="http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=797495">this</a> for dinner, hopefully it will turn out amazing.  I use 28 ounces of turkey sausage instead, and added an additional half cup of red beans to the mixture.  It will definitely make for good leftovers.</p>
<p>Sometime this afternoon/evening, Im going to sit down and draft my eating/exercise plan for the week.  And stick to it.  And get everything all ready so that I dont even have to think (about the food at least).</p>

<p>Did not exercise as much as I wanted, did not keep up with tracking my food as I wanted, ate out when I said I wouldnt, and pretty much just blew the week off.</p>
<p>Good points: I <strong>DID</strong> manage to get out there and run, which is more than I can say of the past bunch of weeks.  More than that, both of the times I ran, I did 3 miles! I havent been able to (read:have not pushed myself) do 3 in a LONG time.  Needless to say, Im hurting for it.  It is ok though, because I needed to let myself realize it needed to be done.  Now I can work up to the 6.2 for Thanksgiving, and the 13.1 in January.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m also following a little closer the blogs that my friend reads, to get a better idea of what I need for this one, and also healthy eating tips.  Almost feels like information overload sometimes, and with as much as I have going on outside of the interwebs, I think I might have developed a whole mental block about this whole idea.  Not going to happen (I hope) this week coming up.  Nothing weird is going on (that I can remember) so I should be able to set up a schedule and keep with it.  The week after throws that off because I am taking that week off of work, but it might help because then I will have free time (read:study hardcore time) to further plan and reinforce the practices I want to put in place.</p>
<p>All this talk about running makes me want to go out for a run.  Or is it that I want to further procrastinate on my studying? The world may never know . . .</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Last week I promised myself that I would start my healthy habits in earnest.  I lied.  There was so much going on at work that my eating was pretty much shot.  But I know now what I need to do to keep myself on track.</p>
<p>I <strong>will </strong>bring my lunch <span style="text-decoration:line-through;">every day</span> 4 times this week. (One of our GREAT managers is taking the staff out to eat Tuesday)<br />
I <strong>will</strong> run &gt;3 miles 3+ times this week.<br />
I <strong>will</strong> study every single day.<br />
I <strong>will</strong> cook dinner 2 nights this week.</p>
<p>Fairly lofty goals.  But here is how I will attain them:</p>
<p>Made <a href="http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=805974">Tortilla Casserole</a> for dinner tonight.  I was able to scavenge 2 leftover portions for myself (the husband managed to pack up one), which will be my lunch for Monday and Wednesday.  Tuesday night I will make <a href="http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=797495">this recipe </a>(with the addition of chicken breasts) for dinner so that we can have leftovers for the rest of the week, and then <a href="http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=802441">meatloaf</a> Friday (modified: 2 pounds ground turkey) for lunch.</p>
<p>Running will be Monday evening, Tuesday morning and Thursday morning.  Wednesday evening I have a dodgeball tournament for work, so theres some additional exercise.</p>
<p>Studying I threw in there, because no matter how involved I want to be with getting into my healthy habits and posting to this blog, I need to remember that passing the CPA exam is really my number one priority.</p>

<p>A good friend of mine suggested I start a healthy eating/exercise/overall good health type blog, so here it goes!</p>
<p>A little about me:<br />
I am a 23 (about to turn 24) year old trying to tone up/slim down so that I can maintain a fairly healthy lifestyle early on.  I am a tax accountant, meaning I have 6 or so months out of the year where this could be really hard to do.  55+ hour work weeks are not all that conducive to eating healthy and working out.  I like to cook, I love my job, my husband rocks my world.  Running is one of my hobbies, also trying to take up biking.  I am trying to pass the CPA exam as well.</p>
<p>Goals: I *hope* to make fairly regular posts related to healthy eating and fitness, and in conjunction with my SparkPeople page/blog, I want to find people who will help hold me accountable to this goal.  It&#8217;s the support I need and encouragement that I can succeed that I think will help me the most.</p>
